Houses and Homes Games
Idea contributed by Alice Eaton

Alice writes: 'This is in a similar vein to the geography PE game post. I used it as a warm up in PE when teaching houses and homes to my year ones. It was fun, and reinforced the vocabulary in a kinaesthetic way.

Get them all to run about. Then you call out a type of home, and the children have to respond:

Bungalow - Children drop to the floor

Semi-detached - Children find a partner and link arms

Terrace - Children get into a row and link arms

Detached - Children stand in a space and make a roof with their arms

Flat - Children stand on tip-toes, reaching up to the ceiling

Caravan - Children move their arms about like wheels

In my frazzled NQT state I couldn’t think of one for flats, igloos, etc, but you get the idea. I hope you enjoy playing it. '
