Shape Challenge
Idea contributed by Jenny Sloyan

Jenny writes: 'Instead of the usual colour match shape sort activity for 2D shape try this, it's interactive and the kids love it. Give them a sheet of A4. Ask what shape is it. Tell them to fold it in half. What shape have they got? Can they make their paper in to a square? Fold the square. What have they got now? A triangle. Open it back to a square. Fold down 1 corner. This makes an irregular pentagon and it is really important that they see irregular pentagons, hexagons etc. Can they make a 6 sided shape? My class enjoyed the challenge element of this activity.'
