'Multi-sensory French'
idea contributed by Janet Kinnane
|
Janet writes: 'I teach French to children with profound and multiple learning difficulties
where everything we do has to be multisensory. To teach the weather we say /
mime the word using a variety of resources to reinforce e.g. Il pleut is said
while squirting peers with water, il neige involves a can of shaving
foam (!), ilya du vent a wind machine and so on. It is amazing how quickly the
vocabulary is remembered as assessment involves them saying/miming the phrase
in order to have a go with the equipment. (This particular lesson is also very
popular with the rest of the school who tend to have mild to moderate
learning difficulties.)'
