Mad Mile(ish)

(Idea contributed by Sam Fitzpatrick)

Sam writes:

"Components: Cardiovascular Endurance, Maths, Studies in Physical Educational, Planning and Evaluation Skills and Teamwork

Class should be split up into 3 or 4 groups.
[e.g. In a class of 30, children should be split up into 3 groups - 10 children each.]

For every child in the group, two laps of a 200m have to be covered (400m).
Distance can be changed to teacher's disgretion.
[e.g. 10 children in group = 10 x 400m = 4000m]

Prior to the day of the activity, each group should decide; how far each person is going to run.
For e.g. some children may be good at long distance running, and others strong at sprinting.
This should be written down by the group (Planning Stage).

The activity should then be performed - using batons.

The children should then evaluate their performance - what they did well, what they didn't, how they can improve."
